The earth is a beautiful life planet, and every life planet must have a perfect ecosystem. The ecosystem of the earth is very excellent. In the biological cycle system of the earth, the cycle of water plays an important role, and water is the source of life on the earth. Without water, there will be no birth and continuation of life on the earth.
And the water cycle is mainly in the form of rainfall, after the rainy season every year, once there is continuous rainfall, people will feel depressed. If it is some heavy rain, it will bring some disaster. Xiaobian still remembers that one year when he was a child, it rained for 9 days. As a result, many houses collapsed, and even better houses kept leaking in the later period.
For friends living in the south, the continuous rain brought by typhoon in rainy season makes people suffer even more. Today’s climate as long as a few days of rain, many people will not stand, but also will bring a series of natural disasters. But who would have thought that 234 million years ago, the earth had a continuous rainfall of more than 1 million years.
Maybe someone will say, has such a long rain really happened? How did it happen? Scientists have found some evidence of this ancient heavy rain through a lot of exploration and research. We can’t directly experience and see the continuous rainfall 234 million years ago, but such a long rainfall will inevitably have a great impact on the geological structure, leaving some ancient evidence in geology.
Scientists around the world in the Triassic strata, found a lot of traces of precipitation, and scientists also found evidence of the heavy rain in the fossils of animals and plants at that time. It can be seen that the ancient heavy rain lasting as long as 1 million years probably existed, and scientists call it the “Carnian proluvial event”.
So how did such a long continuous rainfall happen? In the normal ecological cycle, rainfall will not last for a long time. In this process, carbon dioxide from the earth’s interior is released into the atmosphere by volcanic activities. As we all know, the most abundant basic element in the universe is hydrogen, followed by carbon and hydrogen. Among the three elements, the chemical properties of oxygen are very active, it is easy to react with carbon and hydrogen, and the reaction products are carbon dioxide and water respectively.
So in the solar system, carbon dioxide and water are common substances. Although carbon dioxide is a kind of gas, because it is heavier, it is easy to be captured by celestial bodies with larger mass. Therefore, in the early stage of the formation of the earth, the content of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere was quite high. A lot of carbon dioxide fuses with liquid water on earth to form carbonic acid.
These carbonates will react with other materials such as calcium and magnesium, and then form carbonates, which will gradually settle down and enter the lithosphere of the earth with the long geological movement. Relevant data show that there are about 270 million tons of carbon in the earth’s lithosphere in the form of carbonate, far more than the carbon content in the atmosphere.
The earth’s interior is a high temperature and high pressure environment, under which these carbonates will re release a lot of carbon dioxide. However, due to the existence of the crustal layer, the carbon dioxide can only be sealed inside the earth. Under normal circumstances, they do not run to the surface. Only when a volcano erupts will they be released into the surface atmosphere with volcanic ash.
After the plate split, the global volcanic Movement broke out, the crust was opened one by one, and a large amount of carbon dioxide inside the earth was released into the atmosphere. As we all know, carbon dioxide is a kind of greenhouse gas. Once the carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere continues to increase, there will be a serious greenhouse effect.
The rising temperature makes the ocean evaporate a lot, and the number of water molecules in the atmosphere is increasing. The water vapor that evaporates into the atmosphere falls to the sea and the ground in the form of rainfall through convective weather. Continuous rainfall can dilute part of the carbon dioxide and have the effect of cooling, but at the same time, carbon dioxide constantly comes out from the earth, which forms a dynamic balance. Therefore, on the earth at that time, the rain kept falling. Until the volcano stopped, and this process lasted more than a million years.
So will this kind of continuous rainfall occur in the future? Some people may think that the earth is unlikely to have a huge global plate movement, and naturally there will be no global volcanic movement, so the continuous rainfall lasting for millions of years is unlikely to happen again in the future. But is that really the case? In fact, some people’s understanding is wrong. It is a high probability event for the earth to have another global volcanic movement in the future.
The earth itself is a geologically active planet. Many volcanoes are not completely dead. For example, Yellowstone Park volcano in the United States is a large volcano that has been active all the time. Once this volcano erupts, the possibility of global volcanic activity will be very large. In addition, asteroid impact will also trigger violent volcanic movement. Once the earth encounters the impact of a large asteroid again in the future, it is very likely to trigger global volcanoes.
As long as the global volcanic movement occurs, the climate of persistent rainfall 234 million years ago is likely to reappear. And now there’s another thing that’s happening that’s increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. It’s greenhouse gas emissions from industrial production. With the rapid development of human industry, the emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere will continue to increase in the future.
Once the atmospheric carbon dioxide content reaches a certain level, ocean evaporation will also bring continuous long rainfall. It’s just that this rainfall can’t last as long as 234 million years ago, or as long as a million years. Even so, once the Earth continues to rain for several years, it will be a huge disaster for the earth’s life and human beings.
Therefore, it has become everyone’s responsibility to protect and cherish the earth. Only when all human beings take action can we return a beautiful ecology to the earth. Only in this way can the tragedy of history never happen again, and human beings can survive on the earth.
