The celestial bodies in the universe are in constant motion, and so are galaxies. In 4.5 billion years, the two galaxies in this cluster will have an epic collision, and the Milky way with 400 billion stars will merge with Andromeda with 1 trillion stars.
This means that the two super galaxies will merge into a bigger new galaxy, so what will happen to the earth at that time? Can we survive such an epic cosmic collision?
First of all, we need to understand that in a galaxy, the distance between the various celestial bodies is far beyond our imagination. Take the solar system and adjacent star systems as an example. The star nearest to our sun is called the neighbor star, which is about 4.2 light-years away from us. Most stars are actually very far away, and the whole galaxy cavity area occupies the vast majority.
When the whole star group of Andromeda Galaxy reaches the edge of the galaxy billions of years later, most stars will not collide physically, but will interact with each other under the action of gravity. In the center of the galaxy and Andromeda, there are more stars, and the probability of their collision will be slightly greater than that of the edge.
In the center of them, it is likely to be a massive black hole. The fusion and collision between black holes will also have a huge impact on the whole central region.
A team led by Michael Coase of the University of Maryland published a study in nature. They looked at 500 galaxies within 330 million light-years and found that 17% of them had two supermassive black holes at the center. They think it’s evidence that galaxies are merging, galaxies are merging, and black holes will eventually merge.
At the edge of the two galaxies, where there are fewer star systems, the lower the probability of collision. The whole collision process will last about 1 billion to 2 billion years, and then gradually subside. In this way, after nearly 7 billion years, Andromeda galaxy from afar will merge with our galaxy into a new giant elliptical galaxy or spherical Galaxy!
Our solar system is located on the edge of the Milky way. In fact, our influence is very limited. We may even see the process of Galaxy fusion in this remote region. However, changes in the pattern of the whole galaxy may also cause changes in the pattern of the solar system.
After all, in the collision of more than a trillion stars, it’s hard to be sure that the solar system won’t be affected. However, we need not worry, because in 4.5 billion years’ time, our sun will also come to the end of its life. It is about to go out and finish its life. Our earth is likely to be swallowed by the sun in the red giant stage of the sun.
If human beings were still there at that time, we might have gone out of the galaxy, gone to the real sea of stars, and headed for star civilization; but more likely, human beings have already disappeared in the evolution history of life on earth, and become a disappearing spray in the wave of life on earth. Human beings have disappeared forever in the universe, leaving no trace, as if from the universe The future is the same.
