If you want to ask what is the most mysterious and complex thing in the universe, I believe many people will answer that it is life. Yes, life can be said to be the most mysterious and complex thing in the universe. Its complexity goes far beyond time and space.
There are many mysteries of life, among which the most complex one is the reincarnation of life and death. I believe we all know that from the day of birth, any life will face the fate of death in the future. No matter simple life or advanced intelligent life like human beings, they can not get rid of the fate of death. It’s the law of life in the universe.
For ordinary creatures, they will naturally follow the law of life and death given by nature and face the fate of death in the future. However, human beings are intelligent life, advanced life, with their own complex thinking and emotions. Although people all know that death is still waiting for us in the future, regardless of status, wealth or poverty, there are still many people who are unwilling to accept this fate and try to challenge the death law of the universe to achieve immortality.

Some people may say that the life expectancy of human beings has been increasing since ancient times. In prehistoric times, the average life expectancy of human beings could only reach 15 years old. In feudal society, it gradually increased to over 30 years old. Until the beginning of the 20th century, the average life expectancy of human beings only reached 60 years old. Now, the average life expectancy of human beings has reached more than 70 years old.
According to this increasing rate of increase, does it mean that the life span of human beings can be increased infinitely without an upper limit? In fact, this kind of cognition is not correct. Scientists believe that human life is also limited, and it is impossible to increase with the passage of time. So what’s the limit of human life? In fact, scientists have no definite answer to this question. The scientific community is divided into three camps. Each camp has its own method to calculate the limit of human life.
The first method is Bafeng’s life-span coefficient. British biologist and gerontologist Bafeng put forward on the basis of a lot of research that the life-span of animals, especially mammals, can be five to seven times of their respective growth periods and 8 to 10 times of their mature periods. This number is called the Bafeng life factor.
For example, we all know that the life span of large dogs is about 14 years old, but this 14 year old is not the 14 year old of human beings. The life span limit of mammals is actually related to the growth cycle. The faster the body develops, the shorter its life span. In general, mammals can reach 5-7 times of their growth cycle time.
The growth of a human one-year-old baby is totally different from that of a dog. A dog is basically mature from birth to one year old, but a human one-year-old baby doesn’t know anything, only crawls and is still in lactation. Therefore, it is often said that one year old dog is equivalent to 18 years old of human.
This actually means that the dog’s body development cycle is very fast. It only takes one year to grow up to the age of 18. Of course, the side effect of growing too fast is the sharp shortening of life span, so the life span of dogs is much shorter than that of humans. Other mammals naturally follow this rule. According to the Bafeng coefficient, scientists calculate that the limit of human life is 140 years.
The second method is through the life cycle. Mursky, director of the Moscow Institute of marine biology in Russia, and Kuzmin, Professor of mathematics at Moscow University, pointed out that the life cycle time of human beings is a multiple of 15.15. We don’t know how to get this figure. It seems that there is no scientific explanation until now.
According to the life cycle algorithm, scientists calculate that the ultimate life span of human beings is 170 years. This value is much larger than that obtained by the previous method. It is only scientific. It is far less reliable than the first value obtained by Bafeng coefficient.
The third method is the disappearance cycle of telomeres. As we all know, objects can be divided into macro and micro. And the essence of things often have to find the answer in the micro world. The human body is composed of a large number of cells from a micro perspective. Is the length of human life also related to cells? The answer is yes.
Scientists have found some answers through a lot of research. We all know that the human body is composed of cells, and cells can renew through continuous division. Under normal circumstances, as long as cell division can continue, then human beings will continue to live, so as to achieve the desired longevity.
But through the study found that cell division will not continue, it has a maximum number of divisions, about 50 times. The reason why cells have the upper limit of division is that something called telomere is playing a trick. Telomere is a small DNA protein complex at the end of linear chromosome in eukaryotic cells. Together with telomere binding protein, it forms a special “cap” structure, which is used to maintain the integrity of chromosome and control cell division cycle.
Through research, scientists have found that every time a cell divides, the telomere will continue to shorten, so that the quality and activity of newly born cells will continue to decrease. In organs, the performance of organs is constantly reduced, and telomeres will disappear after about 50 cell divisions. Without telomeres, cells will no longer divide and renew, and human life will come to an end. By setting the upper limit of 50 cell division cycles, the life limit of computer scientists is about 120 years.
Are the above three methods used to calculate the limit of human life reliable? In fact, no one can say this clearly, because very few people can live to the limit of human life. Now recognized as one of the oldest old people is from Indonesia’s “mabagoso”, he lived 146 years old, this is a recorded longevity.
The old man’s life exceeded the limit life calculated by the first method and the third method. From this point of view, it seems that the second method that was originally considered the most unreliable is more likely to be true. However, since the life limit calculated by the second method is 170 years old, it is also far from 146 years old.
In fact, in Xiaobian’s opinion, the above three methods of calculating the limit of human life are not very reliable. If it is a common mammal, its life limit can be drawn a more accurate conclusion by using the above three methods. But these methods may not be very accurate when applied to human beings. We need to know that human beings are intelligent life with strong scientific and technological support.
With the continuous progress of human science and technology, gene technology is also constantly powerful. Through gene technology, we can solve the mystery of life step by step, and we can also solve the mystery of life and death step by step. At that time, we can increase the life span of human beings through genetic modification technology, so it is difficult for us to calculate the life span limit of human beings in a specific way.
