For about 2 million years, volcanoes continued to eject carbon and methane into the atmosphere, a large number of volcanic eruptions covered the sky, and the earth fell into a long period of gray.
Without sunlight, a large number of plants began to die out, and the disappearance of plants led to the death of herbivores, which led to the extinction of carnivores; moreover, toxic sediments would eventually flow into the ocean, where a large number of organisms had died due to the increase of carbon dioxide concentration, acidification and temperature.
