13.8 billion years ago, the big bang at the singularity led to the birth of the universe. After the birth of the universe also began to appear all kinds of celestial bodies and mysterious things, and we are familiar with the stars, planets and so on. In people’s cognition, celestial bodies have a solid structure, whether stars, planets or other celestial bodies, they all have a solid structure.
However, the discovery of black holes gives scientists a new understanding of the concept of celestial bodies. Black hole is the most mysterious thing in the universe. Although scientists have always summarized black holes into celestial bodies, there is still no accurate answer whether it is a celestial body or not. Some people say that a black hole is a hole, but the essence of the hole is also unknown.
The earliest concept of black hole was put forward by Einstein through the theory of relativity. Our understanding of black hole is that it is a thing with too much mass to describe, and its strong gravity can devour any celestial body, including stars. Even light can’t be avoided. Because of the powerful phagocytic properties of black holes, we can’t directly observe the existence of black holes through the reflection of light.
However, due to the strong gravity and phagocytic ability of black holes, especially some massive black holes, when they phagocytize stars and other celestial bodies, they will tear up the star first, and then form an accretion disk around it, and the materials in the accretion disk will emit strong energy when they rub with each other, and these energy will emit dazzling light and radiate outward. Therefore, it is difficult for supermassive black holes to hide themselves, and we can confirm that there is a black hole there by observing the existence of accretion disks through astronomical telescopes, such as the supermassive black hole in the center of the galaxy.
So is a black hole a celestial body or a hole? Maybe it’s not either. It’s probably a curved space-time. If it is a celestial body, but in people’s cognition, the celestial body should be made up of solid structure, but the black hole is a thing without solid structure. Black hole can devour everything, it seems like a hole. 、
From the perspective of the ability of black hole phagocytosis, it is also true to call a black hole a hole. In fact, these are just the external manifestations of black holes. To understand the nature of black holes, we need to start with the origin of black holes. Where does the black hole come from? According to the explanation of modern science, black hole is not born, its predecessor should be the well-known star.
When a massive star reaches the end of its life, it will first expand into a red supergiant, then collapse inward to produce a supernova explosion, and finally evolve into a black hole. From this point, we can also say that black holes are the bodies of stars. Some people may say that if a black hole evolved from a star, it should be a celestial body.
Black holes are formed by the collapse of stars. Will the collapse process have an end? Under normal circumstances, there is no,. In fact, there is no force to prevent the object from further collapsing inside the black hole whose escape speed exceeds the speed of light. In other words, the collapse will not stop after it becomes a compact sphere, but will continue to collapse.
If the collapse continues, its volume will be smaller and its density will be larger and smaller, which reminds us of the singularity of the predecessor of the big bang. Yes, if the origin of a black hole is the collapse of a star, then the center of the black hole should be a singularity with infinite mass and infinitesimal volume. The existence of singularity is different from that of normal cognition.
Singularity is not a point, nor should it be a celestial body, at least not a matter point. If we think of the universe as a net of spheres that can stretch infinitely. If we put a relatively large sphere on it, a collapse pit will appear immediately. At this time, the space-time around the ball bends, which is the result of a normal ball.
What happens if the mass of the sphere keeps increasing and the volume keeps shrinking and finally becomes an infinitesimal point? At this time, you will find that if the point is pulled down all the time and infinitely, it will produce not only a pit, but a cone-shaped hole. When the hole is pulled down infinitely, the slender hole will eventually close. That is to say, the spatial structure has been bent and disappeared. When the spatial structure disappears, there will be no place for the material structure to exist, so the singularity does not exist Not in the form of matter, but more likely in the form of energy.
If singularity exists in the form of energy, then the essence of black hole may also be a form of energy. It should not be a celestial body, but a curved space-time. It is the increasing knowledge of black hole that scientists begin to realize that black hole may be a curved space-time. Therefore, some people speculate that black holes may be wormholes that can connect different spaces in the universe.
If a black hole is a wormhole, it will be of great significance to human beings. We should know that the universe is so vast that we can’t imagine it. Under normal circumstances, even with the development of human science and technology, the speed of the spacecraft is difficult to reach the point where it can traverse the universe and go wherever it wants. Even if we achieve the initial superluminal flight, the scope of the universe we can explore is limited. Take the observable universe of 92 billion light-years as an example. How many times of the speed of light does it take to travel? Maybe humans will never achieve this speed.
But if there are wormholes in the universe, that’s different. Modern science has realized that the universe is not smooth, more like a space membrane structure. The black hole depends on the singularity to extend the membrane infinitely downward, forming a space-time hole, which can be directly connected from one side of the universe to the other. As long as we can shuttle through this hole, we can easily reach the other side of the universe, and the distance may be millions of light years, hundreds of millions of light years, etc.
For example, the distance between the Milky Way galaxy and Andromeda galaxy is millions of years, and the general superluminal flight may take a long time. However, it may take only a few hours or less to travel through wormholes connecting the two galaxies. Only in this way can human beings hope to travel all over the universe and finally uncover the ultimate mystery of the universe.
Of course, what is a black hole and what is its essence? Now the scientific community still has no definite answer. A lot of people’s understanding of black holes is still in the guessing stage. Although scientists have released the first and last pictures of human black holes this year, our understanding of them may not even be superficial. What’s more, we can only find some supermassive black holes now. For medium or smaller black holes, they don’t reflect any light, so we can’t find them either.
Therefore, even if there is a small black hole in the solar system, we can hardly find it. Unless we can develop the technology to explore black holes from another perspective without relying on optics in the future, we may be able to find black holes of any mass in the universe. If we can find a black hole in or near the solar system, we may send a detector to watch it from a close range, and we may get more data to really uncover the mystery of the black hole.
