Is oil reserves not proportional to biological corpses? So, how did oil come from?

Petroleum, a dark brown and viscous liquid, is the most widely used energy in the world, known as “the blood of industry”. Oil is mainly various

Aromatic hydrocarbon

It is also named after Shen Kuo, a great scientist in the Northern Song Dynasty. Oil is very important for the development of a country, and now it is also the energy material widely used in the world. It can be said that without oil, there would be no modern industry. Petroleum is a very important chemical raw material. The gasoline, paraffin, asphalt and so on we use are all petroleum products. Some scientists have shown that the generation of oil takes at least 2 million years, and in all the reservoirs discovered today, the oldest can be as long as 500 million years. Because the importance of oil to mankind is self-evident, and the resources on the earth are not unlimited, so many scientists are exploring the origin of oil. Only by knowing where oil comes from, can we know how to make better use of it. How did oil come into being?

All along, people have been talking about the origin of oil. One of the most common views is “bio oil theory”, which has been accepted in the early days. People who support this theory believe that oil comes from the bodies of animals and plants

After a series of decomposition and sedimentation, various organic substances in it are mixed with sediment to form a sedimentary layer, which is gradually thickened and compressed by continuous accumulation. Along with this process, the pressure and temperature rise, and then the sedimentary basin is formed. This geological environment provides more favorable conditions for the formation of oil. And most geologists also believe that oil, like coal and natural gas, was formed by ancient organic matter after a long period of compression and heating. According to this theory, the oil we use is formed by the changes of prehistoric marine animals and algae. Scientists say that this theory does not hold, because even if all the living things on the earth are converted into oil, the amount of oil produced is too different from the reserves currently proved on the earth.

Some scientists believe that oil is formed by some inorganic substances, which comes from the decomposition of the corpses of some plants. After a long period of transition, it is formed by various chemical reactions, deposited in the soil, and then turned into silt, sunk into the bottom of the lake, accumulated into deeper places, and gradually formed today’s oil, waiting for people to discover. But at present, this view has not been recognized by people, and there is a lack of strong evidence. Scientists have done a lot of experiments and found that oil contains hydrocarbons. After that, scientists changed their view, because after decomposing the oil, it was found that most of its components were hydrocarbons, so hydrocarbons were the basic chemical substances of oil.

Over the years, experts have had different views on this. We can’t say whether oil is formed by the accumulation and precipitation of paleontology or by the formation of inorganic matter. We can only see that there is less and less oil on the earth. Perhaps in the near future, all countries will face a kind of dilemma – the oil crisis.
