Through the direct numerical simulation of the interior of Europa, it is found that Jupiter’s magnetic field produces a retrograde ocean jet at the equator, which may affect the global dynamics of Europa’s ocean and promote the formation of some surface features of Europa’s ice shell by exerting a unidirectional torque on it.

Of course, if you want to explore the life that may exist in Europa’s underwater ocean, you can’t rely on the orbital probe. You can only find out if you go further and land on Europa, or even directly penetrate the thick ice into the ocean. NASA plans to launch a new probe to Europa in 2025. The probe may choose to land on Europa to collect samples at close range.

Because there are often jets at the poles of Europa, that is, the material under the ice comes to the surface through the eruption of water. If there is life in the ocean under the ice, the water and other materials so erupted may have significant discoveries.


Of course, to really explore and discover the life that Europa might exist, we still need to penetrate the ice into the ocean. However, this task is very difficult. If scientists find life in Europa’s oceans in the future, it is possible that life will also exist on Jupiter and Saturn’s other moons that have subglacial oceans. Now we have not found any extraterrestrial life. However, although life may be universal in the universe, intelligent life like human beings may be relatively rare. At least there is only one intelligent civilization in the solar system. In other galaxies outside the solar system, although there may be living planets, intelligent life will be very rare. It is possible that there is only human civilization within tens of thousands of light years. This may be one of the reasons why we can not find any extraterrestrial civilization, and there is no connection between extraterrestrial civilization and human beings.
