Tess is 1.5 meters high, with a diameter of about 1.3 meters and a weight of 363 kg when the solar wings or solar panels are folded up. It is smaller than most space exploration satellites. Don’t belittle “Tess”, its function is very strong. It concentrates the essence of the current space technology. Its main mission is to scan more than 200 thousand “nearest and brightest” stars outside the solar system in the next two years to confirm whether there are planets revolving around them. NASA expects to find 20000 exoplanets, of which more than 50 are “earth size” and up to 500 are “less than twice the size of the earth.”.
Tess is equipped with four advanced wide-angle lenses. The observed space area is 350 times larger than Kepler’s, and the observed stars are “30 to 100 times brighter” than Kepler’s on average.
Human science and technology are constantly improving, and space technology is also constantly improving. The solar system is no longer satisfied with the goal of human exploration. Only when we go out of the solar system can we broaden our horizons. After all, our solar system is on the edge of the universe and can only be regarded as a small village. The closer we are to the center of the galaxy, the richer the resources and the more civilizations we have. We haven’t found any aliens in or around the solar system.
