Scientists cross species hybridization, human stem cells into mouse embryos, culture mature human cells

Different animals have different chromosome numbers, so they have reproductive isolation, so there is generally no intersection between different species.

According to foreign media reports, scientists injected human stem cells into mouse embryos to try cross material hybridization, and published the results in science advance on May 13.

The team, from the Jacobs School of medical and biomedical sciences at the University of buffalo in the United States, injected 10 human stem cells into mouse embryos to try to cultivate human stem cells and develop with mouse embryos.

After 17 days of development, scientists found that human cells exist in the tissues of mice that have formed hearts and brains, and are particularly abundant in the blood.

But not all embryos develop in the same way. Human cells are also found in the eyes of some embryos. Overall, at least 4% of mouse embryos are human cells.

This also shows that human cells have spread to most parts of developing mice.

Why do scientists do this?

In fact, in recent decades, the cure of human stem cells has been hindered by the failure to produce enough mature human cells in vivo.

Further development of our technology can induce the differentiation of more kinds of specific types of mature human cells, thus enabling us to create more effective mouse models to study diseases that seriously affect humans, such as malaria or covid-19. “

Scientists believe that the mature human cells produced by this experimental method will be able to be used to treat diabetes or renal failure, which is a chronic disease with broad application prospects.

And Dr. Jian Feng also said that it is very beneficial to study COVID-19, which is New Coronavirus pneumonia. It is expected to establish a better mouse model of human immune system or with human respiratory system, and it is also possible to produce more mature mouse models of human red blood cells through this method.
