What will happen if China’s sky eye encounters a rainstorm? Will it become a “water pot”?

Mankind is the only intelligent civilization on earth. With the birth of mankind millions of years ago, the planet of life has been upgraded to a civilized planet. At the same time, the emergence of human beings also shoulders the important task of exploring the mysteries of the world and the universe.

In ancient times, people relied on their own eyes to observe the stars and study the mystery of the stars. Although they also made some achievements, they were very limited. Only when mankind entered the road of scientific and Technological Development hundreds of years ago, the road of human civilization to explore the universe can be regarded as rapid progress. To explore the mysteries of the universe, nature can not do without the assistance of powerful scientific and technological equipment, and astronomical telescope is the most powerful tool to observe the universe.

Astronomical telescopes can be divided into two types. One is to observe and search by means of infrared rays. This kind of telescope is to observe and search celestial bodies by receiving light from the universe. Another kind of astronomical telescope is to explore the universe by searching for signals in the universe. This kind of telescope is radio telescope.

It’s hard to tell which one is stronger. They have their own advantages and disadvantages. Relatively speaking, radio telescopes can detect far and wide. We should know that the universe can be full of all kinds of wireless electromagnetic waves. Most of these wireless signals come from celestial bodies, and a few may come from some mysterious cosmic phenomena and alien civilizations.

At present, the most powerful radio telescope in the world is China’s sky eye. China’s sky eye was proposed by Chinese astronomer Nan Rendong in 1994. It took 22 years to complete and was put into use on September 25, 2016. Led by the National Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, it is the largest single aperture and most sensitive radio telescope in the world with independent intellectual property rights in China. Its comprehensive performance is ten times that of the famous radio telescope Arecibo.

From the appearance, the Chinese sky eye is like a huge pot. It is very similar to the satellite pot we used before, just like an enlarged version of the satellite pot. In fact, its image is an enlarged version of the satellite pot. It is not too much to say that it is a concave big iron pot, but it is much more powerful than the big iron pot. It can receive cosmic signals from 13.7 billion light-years away, and it is a really powerful cosmic signal receiver.

China’s Tianyan is located in Pingtang, Guizhou. I believe many friends know that Guizhou is an area with frequent rain. Especially in recent years, with the rising global temperature, rainstorms often occur. 2019 is also an El Nino year. The extreme climate and high temperature make this year’s typhoons more frequent. In the past month, there has been continuous rainstorm throughout the country, especially in the south.

Guizhou is a place frequented by rainstorms. When rainstorms come, what will happen to China’s eye of heaven? Will it become a “water pot”? In fact, this problem was raised by some people last year. Many netizens are also worried that once there is a rainstorm, the sky eye will be filled with water, which will damage the sensitivity of China’s sky eye. My friends don’t have to worry about this at all.

As a matter of fact, when scientists were building the Tianyan, they had already thought about the heavy rain in Guizhou. Therefore, they have successfully solved this problem. How can China’s Tianyan survive under the heavy rain? It is mainly realized by the following measures? After reading these, I believe it will give you a lot of insight, but also a real understanding of what is high-tech.

We can see from the picture that the Chinese heavenly eye looks like a pot, and its concave surface seems to be smooth, but it is not at all. When we get close to the eye of heaven, you will find that the eye of heaven is composed of many reflective panels, not a whole pot. It is composed of 4450 reflective units hemispherical reflector, the panel is densely covered with holes, rainwater can flow down, no water, but also reduce the wind load; holes can improve the light transmittance.

At the same time, the sky eye is also a certain height from the ground, and there are also plants growing under the launch surface, which can consolidate the soil, prevent soil erosion and make the ground collapse. Some people may worry that if the rainstorm lasts for a long time, can these pores discharge the water in time? And can the water flowing to the ground be discharged in time?

The hole above the eye of heaven is only a preliminary drainage, and the real contribution is the drainage system set up on the ground. This drainage system adopts the design scheme of non pressure tunnel, with a total length of more than 1000 meters, which is enough to cope with rainstorm weather, so as to ensure the safe operation of the eye of heaven. Moreover, the location of the eye of heaven is also at a high level, and water will flow from high to low. Even if there are rainstorms for several consecutive days, it will not pose a threat to the eye of heaven. That’s why the eye of heaven chose to build at this location.

If it is built at the bottom of the mountain, no matter how powerful the drainage system is, it may not be able to cope with continuous rainstorms. We should know that once the rainstorm continues, it will lead to more fearful floods, and the lower part will be drowned. Only when it is at a high level can we have peace of mind. The Chinese eye of heaven is built in a karst cave. This cave is a natural one. Why do you choose to build it here instead of digging a hole manually? This is because the drainage of the artificially dug pit is very poor, while the drainage of the naturally formed pit is very good. There is an underground river under the pit. When it rains, the water will flow out through the underground river. There is no need to worry about the problem that the eye of heaven is submerged.

After reading the above introduction, I believe friends should understand the good intentions of scientists. The location of China’s Tianyan is not randomly selected, and it also has so many high-tech help, so naturally there is no need to worry that rainstorm will turn Tianyan into a water pot. At present, Tianyan has been in operation for three years, and this year it has officially accepted the acceptance, starting a real journey of Tianyan exploration.

In the past two years, China’s sky eye has made great contributions, and has successively detected 59 high-quality pulsar candidates, of which 44 have been confirmed as new pulsars. This is a miracle. China’s heavenly eye has made great achievements for mankind, and it will make more achievements in the future.

What’s more, the real strength of the Chinese eye is to detect the mysterious alien civilization signals that may exist in the universe, which is also the most promising way for human beings to discover alien civilization. To know the vast universe, there is no doubt about the existence of alien civilization. However, human science and technology can not go out of the solar system for interstellar exploration. Even if there are alien civilizations in the galaxies near the solar system, we can not find them through other types of telescopes.

Only a radio telescope like SkyEye can find it. As long as the alien civilization has become an interstellar civilization, it is necessary to carry out all kinds of wireless communication in the universe. Even if the alien civilization also finds the existence of the solar system and the earth, and suspects that the earth also has the existence of civilization, it may send strong pulse radio waves to the earth. If we can receive such wireless signals, it is possible to know the location of alien civilization through decoding. Therefore, many scientists believe that the discovery of the first alien civilization in human history may fall on China’s heavenly eye, and we are looking forward to this day.
