Why does modern scientific theory think that the speed of light is the limit of speed? Is it really unbreakable?

Before the development of science and technology, people would think that the earth is so big that they can never reach the boundary of the earth. However, as human beings enter the era of science and technology, with the help of science and technology, all kinds of fast means of transportation appear.

With these advanced means of transportation, distance is no longer a problem. The remote distance in ancient times can be reached in a very short time, and it is no longer a problem to travel all over the earth. It’s all about speed, which brings people closer and closer.

When human beings are proud of their achievements, we walk out of the earth and see the vast universe. Only then can we know that the speed we are proud of is nothing in front of the universe. At the speed of human spaceships, it will take tens of thousands of years to fly out of the solar system, let alone explore the galaxy and the whole universe.

If you want to shorten the distance of the universe, you have to rely on faster speed. However, modern scientific theory holds that the speed limit of an object is the speed of light, which cannot be surpassed. If the speed of light can’t be surpassed, then human beings will never be able to explore the whole galaxy and the whole universe. Is it still meaningful for us to strive to develop all this?

Why does modern scientific theory think that the speed of light is the limit, which cannot be surpassed? Is the speed of light really beyond it? The research on the speed of light began as early as Galileo era. At that time, scientists believed that the speed of photons in space was the absolute maximum and the terminal point, and the speed of all objects could not exceed the speed of light.

In 1676, Danish scientist Olaf Romer estimated the speed of light for the first time in history, and the estimated value was close to the real value of the speed of light, that is, 220000 km / s. Later, with the study of light, people had a more accurate estimate of the speed of light. In the 19th century, French scientist Armand fisso obtained a more accurate value of the speed of light in his laboratory, that is, 313000 km / s. In 1950, according to a certain principle, the Swedish scientist Becks trand also measured a speed of light, that is, 299793.1 km / s.

With the emergence of laser optical device with stable radiation frequency, it can record the accurate speed of photons, that is, 299792458 M / s. However, this is a limit value. Even today, with enough advanced science and technology, we can not exceed this value. So why is the speed of light a limit?

According to Einstein’s theory of relativity, the faster an object is, the greater its mass and the greater its energy. Moreover, as the speed of an object approaches the speed of light, the mass and energy of the object approach infinity. There is no matter of infinite mass or energy in nature. I’m afraid that the only thing that can be compared with the theoretical mass and energy is the singularity of the big bang.

According to the theory of modern science, if the speed of an object wants to reach the speed of light, it needs infinite energy, and at that time, the mass of matter will also reach infinity, which is completely impossible in theory. Therefore, the speed of an object can only be infinitely close to the speed of light, and can not be achieved, let alone exceed the speed of light.

Some people may say, why can the speed of photons reach the speed of light? That’s because photons have no mass, so they are not limited by the speed of light theory, but the speed of photons can’t exceed the speed of light. If according to the existing scientific theory, the speed of the object can not exceed the speed of light, then the dream of exploring the universe will never come true.

Is that really the case? The answer is not, you know, people in ancient times would not believe that one day there would be cars, airplanes and other means of rapid transportation, let alone that people would be able to walk out of the earth and land on the moon. But what people thought was impossible in ancient times, now we have realized it. So the theory that the speed of light is unbreakable must be correct?

There is no end to the road of scientific exploration, and human science and technology has only developed for hundreds of years, so all our scientific theoretical systems are based on the existing cognitive level. The theory that the speed of light is unbreakable is also based on the present scientific cognition of human beings, which is limited. In another thousand years, human science and technology will be far more powerful than they are now. Various scientific theories at that time may be completely different from those at present.

The theory that the speed of light is the limit, which we think now, may have been broken in a thousand years. At that time, human beings may have had the speed of light spacecraft, and may have found a way to break through the speed of light. In fact, with the rapid development of human science and technology, many scientists have questioned the theory that the speed of light is unbreakable, and some scientists are also actively exploring ways to break through the speed of light.

In fact, the reason is very simple. From the perspective of the universe, the speed of light is nothing. We need to know that the universe is too big for us to imagine. The diameter of our galaxy is 200000 light-years, let alone the whole universe. At present, the observable universe of mankind has reached tens of billions of light-years. If the speed of objects can only reach the speed of light, we can’t even go out of the galaxy, let alone explore the whole universe.

Since human beings are born in the real universe, there must be a speed that can make the distance of the universe no longer a problem, and there must be a way to travel to any corner of the universe. Just as people in ancient times could only walk on their feet, they naturally felt that the earth was too big to go far. However, the rapid development of science and technology, so that mankind has a rapid means of transportation, the distance of the earth is no longer a problem.

Our current situation is actually similar to what people thought in ancient times, except that the horizon extends from the earth to the whole universe. In our opinion, the universe is so vast that there is no boundary. In fact, this idea is only limited by our current technology, and we have not made a major breakthrough in speed. Once the future mankind has mastered the technology of superluminal speed and space jumping, will the distance between the universes still be a problem? I believe at that time, people will sigh that the universe is too small, and they really want to go to the world outside the universe.
