Why explore Mars? The appearance of it made scientists believe that there is life on Mars

Is there life on Mars? Do Martians really exist? Did earth people first immigrate from Mars? There are so many stories about Mars.

On July 23, 2020, China’s first Mars probe tianwen-1 was successfully launched into the sky by the long March-5 yao-4 carrier rocket at the Wenchang space launch site, China. The scientific exploration of Mars surface morphology, soil properties, material composition, water ice, atmosphere and other aspects started, realizing China’s technological leap in the field of deep space exploration.

So why explore Mars?

First, Mars is very close to the earth, and its orbit is closer to the suitable zone of the solar system. Although today’s Mars is a barren, cold and dry planet, according to the observation of Mars probe, it used to be a very warm and humid environment more than 4 billion years ago, and even life may have appeared in the ocean.

However, soon after, the Martian environment changed dramatically, the atmosphere gradually disappeared, the liquid water also evaporated, and finally became desolate, so exploring Mars can help us protect the earth.

Second, because the earth is the only home for human beings, but the past history of the Earth shows that life can not guarantee its permanent existence on this blue planet. Dinosaurs are the best example. So humans also need to find a second home and become a multi planet species.

One day on Mars is about 24.6 hours, which is very close to the earth. However, because Mars is far away from the sun, its cycle is relatively long, about twice that of the earth. In addition, the rotation axis of Mars tilts 25.19 degrees, which is also very close to the earth, so there are four seasons on Mars like the earth.

So Mars is the best choice in the universe that human beings can do at present.

Why do humans always think there is life on Mars?

Since the 1970s, people began to observe Mars and found a lot of evidence that there may be life on Mars.

The first mariner project started in 1971. It was launched around Mars, took many pictures, and found traces of water on the surface of Mars. As a result, people began to suspect that there were rivers on Mars, and according to the length and width of these traces, the amount of water in this river is about 100 times that of the Amazon River.

If there is so much liquid water, then the probability of life is also very large.

Around 1996, NASA said it found fossilized microbes in a meteorite that fell from Mars to earth. In 1997, the United States launched Mars Pathfinder to explore. After exploration, Mars’ atmosphere is 95% carbon dioxide, 3% nitrogen and a small amount of methane.

We all know that methane is an organic matter, and the emergence of methane makes scientists excited. Because on earth, in addition to from nature, such as the ocean, permafrost and some wetlands, human activities are the biggest source. And on a desolate, barren Mars, it’s very likely that the methane was secreted by living things.

In 2005, ESA said it had found ice lakes in the form of solids in the polar regions of Mars, so as long as scientists can find liquid water, it is likely to find microorganisms.

If there is life on Mars, Xiaobian believes that with the continuous development of human science and technology in the future, human beings will be able to overcome the problems of Mars gravity and atmosphere and realize the goal of interstellar migration.
